How to play Quake on Linux?

I recently bought the original Quake on GOG, and I used just simple Wine to install it. It kind of worked, but only the software rendering, and it was choppy. So I checked for other solutions.

I found it on the Lutris website, and script. First I installed the Quakespasm-Spiked edition, but it didn't work either, so I tried the Epsilon version.

The installation takes a considerable time, but totally worth it. Don't change anything during install. After just select the new Quake icon and press Play. From that you can select the Windows or the Linux version, and the original game or the expension packs.

I will be honest I never played the single player fully myself, and soon the multiplayer become a kind of obsession for me, as I played it regularly with my classmates. I think it's time for me to play it through. :)

The only thing that doesn't work, is the music. :(
