Let's Play Open Supaplex!
Date: 2022-01-27
Supaplex is a well-known Boulderdash clone. It was one of my favorite games when I was a kid. Played on MS-DOS, and it truly tested our PC Speakers not to mention our keyboards. And patience. It was one of the early games I tried to speedrun.
You play as a red blob, and you have to collect a certain number of infotrons to exit the level.
Recently I read that there is an open source version, called Open Supaplex.
"OpenSupaplex is a 1:1 reimplementation of the original game in C and SDL, with just a few changes to make it easy to use with game controllers, and also easy to port to any platform."
Everything is like the original, from music to graphics, and gameplay. However you can adjust music and sound level from the in-game menu.
This was the first game, I truly learned to hate scissors… xD
Seriously it's a great game to test your reflexes and quick thinking.
You can find it in AUR (and probably in your distro's repo) or on github.
Happy cursing! :)
